Day 12

Day 12 I really have this great idea that is swirling around in my head that really came to be since I started the Fast. Hopefully, I can present it correctly and hopefully it is accepted... Breakfast: strawberry oatmeal smoothie (as you can tell, I really like it) Snack: apple Lunch: baked tostitos with my new favorite cheese and black beans (I am telling you it is awesome) Dinner: brown rice and mushrooms.. I know it seems as if we have the same thing over and over(which we kind of do) but we are learning so much about foods that we like so we eat them over and over. Plus, we both work so it is harder to cook long meals and I go with what I know...

Day 11

Yesterdays's menu: Breakfast: strawberry oatmeal smoothie Snacks: apple Lunch: whole wheat pasta Dinner: the best dinner so far.. baked tostitos scoops with black beans (put some in each scoop). I then covered them with our "fake" cheese and topped with salsa BTW-I am in love with this cheese

Day 11

I feel like a different person today. The fast itself is not making me feel like that but all of the prayers and thoughts that are going on throughout the fast are making me feel so awesome. I am getting clarity on things and God is truly continuing to Bless us. My husband found a GC to a very nice restaurant in his coat pocket last night. He has no idea where it came from but it was for $100. That is awesome because our anniversary is on May 28 and we can actually go celebrate it in May 29 because the fast is over May 28. I also went shopping at WF today because we are having nachos tonight for dinner. I went there because my husband said he saw some soy ground beef and to check it out. I was ready to grab it and go (soy ground beef? who would have ever thought my husband or myself would eat that) but it had cane juice in it...NO SWEETENERS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED!!! I was actually bummed about not being able to eat soy ground beef.... Interesting what you will learn how to eat. I am using a cheeese tonight that is not actually soy cheese (it is interesting)....

Day 10

Day 10 Breakfast: strawberry oatmeal smoothie Snacks: grapes Lunch: leftover pasta from Day 9 Dinner: I made the brown rice thing again from Day 8 (I was making dinner for 1 so I went with what I knew that was quick) After drinking the oatmeal smoothie, I am not hungry until lunch. I believe it is the oatmeal that keeps you feeling full.

Day 8

I forgot what I had for dinner for Day 7 so I have to post Day 8 instead.. Breakfast: Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie unsweetened soy milk strawberries rolled oats vanilla apple juice banana This was the best breakfast-I was not hungry all morning Smoothies are allowed on the Daniel Fast as long as you use it as a meal and not a drink. Snacks-nuts and chips and salsa Lunch-salad with apples, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes Dressing-olive oil, vinegar and dijon mustard Dinner- Brown rice sauteed with garlic, mushrooms, soy sauce and pineapple juice-Delish!!! God is doing an amazing thing in me right now during this Fast. I feel things changing in my life...

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Day 6

Breakfast-oatmeal with mixed berries, unsweetened soy milk and cinnamon. Snacks: corn chips and salsa (you have to search for salsa with no sugar and/or preservatives-Whole Foods has the best) Lunch: Watermelon and an apple Dinner:Corn tortilla pizzas Corn tortillas spinach tomato sauce (once again, this is hard to find without sugar) mushrooms vegan cheese tomatoes baked them in the over at 425 for about 15 minutes *****the ingredients leaked onto the corn tortillas so we could not pick them up and eat them as a pizza in the end. Any suggestions? I am truly convinced that vegetarian is the way to go. This is the second time that I have done this Fast and the first time it turned into more of a weight loss thing but this time, I went into it as a spiritual awakening. It has also become a body awakening (once again). I know what types of food to eat and how processed foods effect your body-I know all this BUT it is so hard to keep eating that way. After the fast this time, I am determined to become a vegetarian. I will still eat eggs and seafood but I am going to try and stay away from meat the majority of the time. This is the way God intended us to eat and after this fast, I can see why...

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Day 5-DONE!!!

Breakfast-oatmeal with mixed berries Snacks: apple and nuts Lunch: sauteed squash strips with cherry tomatoes and salad greens (all sauteed in a pan with a little olive oil, salt and vinegar) Dinner: Whole wheat penne with tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms.. The only spices/condiments that I use during this fast are: salt, pepper, adobo, olive oil and vinegar Today was a little tough because I really wanted coffee. Derrick kept reminding me to pull through it because we are so close to a breakthrough...no coffee and I am OK. I am amazed that I dont get hungry that much during the day

Day 4

Breakfast-oatmeal with mixed berries and unsweetened soy milk Snacks: apple Lunch:salad with mushrooms and apples (dressing-olive oil, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and dijon mustard) Dinner-wok cooked brown rice with pineapples (and juice), cashews, mushrooms and cilantro Still have a headache but better. Went to a a party with snacks and drinks. It wasnt as hard to stay away because I know that God is working in me

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Yesterday was a whirlwind of Satan's plan for us to screw up.

There were at least 4 areas in our office with FREE Wonderful food. The halls smelt great and the FREE Food is always the best kind. I made it through the worst part of the day. I then got a headache yesterday at about 3:00 and it continued until bed time last night. I knew this would happen, as it happened last time as well. For the first week, you are in a fog...you dont remember much and you really dont want to be around people. My husband and I were asleep by 9:00 last night.

Dinner-Day 1

Dinner: Day 1. Brown Rice, Refried Beans and Corn in a WW Tortilla with spinach and cherry tomatoes..

The Daniel Fast

So I just started the Daniel fast again today. People have asked me to tell them what I ate and the food that I would make while on the Daniel fast. I could not remember from back in January so I am writing down everything that I eat throughout this fast. Hopefully, this will help those of you wanting to try it understand that it is not that hard to do, and also so I can remember the great recipes that I made. Day 1: Breakfast -Rolled Oats Oatmeal made with unsweetened soy milk, cinnamon, blueberries and raspberries
